DUTIES:

As an Administrative Support Specialist you will: Assist program officials in defining the level and kinds of services needed to carry out assigned responsibilities and to accomplish project objectives. Provide advice and assistance, resolve practical problems, and identify ways to expand, enhance, and improve the administrative services. Explain and interpret administrative policies and procedures, to discuss significant operating issues, and to provide input on program planning and management decisions. Serve as the official timekeeper and time clerk for the program. Review time, leave and pay records to ascertain accuracy and prepare error notices when necessary. Prepare and process travel request for the program. Prepare and process training request for the program. Manage administrative requirements for supplies, property and office moves. Coordinate office moves, office construction and other facility improvements, including furniture, equipment, telephones and short-term storage. Use government purchase card for goods and services. Supervise property management and prepares necessary documents to accession and de-accession property. Conduct periodic surveys of equipment and property utilization and recommend action as necessary to assure that economical and efficient use is made of equipment and other property. Manage the security and emergency preparedness functions for the organization. 

REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level of difficulty and responsibility in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include planning and organizing administrative activities that provide programmatic support to an organization. 

OR 

Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related from an accredited college or university. 

OR 

Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above. To combine education and experience, determine the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Documenting experience: In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above
